As the geographical location,human customs,and climate in Xinjiang are different from China’north and south region,the distinct natural landscape and human culture are formed.In history,due to the distant location,and the difficult way of spreading culture,Xinjiang’s terrain and landscape were rarely researched and included in the theory of traditional mountains and water painting.Therefore,the theory of traditional mountains and water painting is not applied to the painting of Xinjiang’s terrain and landscape.In addition,the theoretical foundation of Xinjiang’s mountains and water painting is weak for others to learn.However,the theory of the “ "orthwestern principle for painting”" provides a solution to this problem.The first advocator for the theory of "the northwestern principle for painting" is Rao Zongyi whose article,Landscape Painting Theory,briefly describes human custom,geographic character,theoretical origins,painting method,and the expectation for future creation.The article expresses that the northwestern mountains terrain is distinct,and the traditional "north southern" painting method is inappropriate for painting northwestern landscapes.So,the northwestern principle for painting should form.The idea of the "northwestern principle for painting" raised by Rao has a renovative meaning for developing the theory and practice of Xinjiang’s mountains and water painting.But the idea is not famous after many years.The main reason is that Rao specialized in the study of Chinese ancient civilization.And the article,Landscape Painting Theory,is short and the style is simple.So,in the beginning,it was not emphasized by others.In the new era,the bloom of Xinjiang’s mountains and water painting urgently needs a theory that can keep pace with the time and suit its development.So,the theory of "the northwestern principle for painting" is rooted and developed in Xinjiang’s painting.The theoretical perceptive created by Rao is a milestone.According to the creative experience for the series of works including Ying Xiang Tian Shan,this article analyzes language and practical research for Xinjiang’s terrain,mountains and water painting through the theory of "the northwestern principle for painting".From the perspective of creating the mountains and water painting for Xinjiang’s terrain and landscape guided by the theory of "the northwestern principle for painting",this article focuses on the developing Xinjiang’s mountains and water painting and its painting practice.This article also provides some practice exploration for the development and research of sketching practice for Xinjiang’s mountains and water painting,and goes further,gives some discussion on practical exploration and theoretical construction of sketching Xinjiang’s mountains and water painting. |
