Space is the main dimension of human perception of the world and the core content of artistic form expression. In the process of artistic development, space carries the task of artistic expression of artistic concepts and the expression of artist emotions. As the spatial expression of painting art,it has always been one of the most core artistic issues in painting art.Throughout history, painters have made many explorations. In particular, there is a discussion of artistic conception in Chinese painting and composition in Western painting. Both the artistic conception of Chinese painting and the composition of Western painting are space problems.I rely on my own practice to explore the expression of spatial art in painting, with the intention of finding a personalized form of spatial expression.Based on my own practice, taking Blake as an example,I will explore the spatial implications of European painting from static perspective to modern painting through Blake’s practiceThis paper is divided into three chapters. The first chapter discusses the purpose, significance, content, research trends in the field of painting space and the implementation plan of my practical creation about the study of painting space exploration. The first section of Chapter 2 discusses the origin of Blake’s concept of space in painting, including the development of spatial cognition, the influence of modernist painting trends, the structural characteristics presented by Blake’s painting space, and the expression of light and shadow structure in the painting space. The second section discusses the similarities and differences between the traditional European painting space and the Blake painting space, and uses examples to analyze and compare them. The third section discusses the characteristics of Braque’s painting space from the perspectives of perceptual spatial expression, planar structure of space,multi-dimensional spatial organization, and poetic space. The third chapter discusses the origin of the problem of painting space in the author’s creative practice, including themes, dimensions, composition, texture, and colors. The entire article completes my research and exploration of painting space in this order of writing..
