On Documentary Production About People In Science And Technology

As an important driving force in the course of social development,scientific and technological innovation is also a powerful weapon against many global challenges.Visualization makes it much easier for audiences to learn about cutting-edges in related scientific research fields,enhances their sense of participation,and further deepens their sense of national identity as and also pride in Chinese ethnic people.This may contribute to strengthen the consciousness of the community of the Chinese nation.Today,the world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century.In this context,it is rather necessary to shape a strong atmosphere of respecting knowledge,upholding innovation,valuing talented people,and being passionate about science and devoted to it in society on one hand,and integrate the spirit of science into the spiritual genealogy of Chinese communists on the other hand,which are spiritual treasures of the whole society and China.This paper is composed of an introduction and another four chapters.In the part of the introduction,not only is the research background introduced,but the research methods selected are presented.By analyzing outstanding videos and graduation work of relevant themes,this study proceeds both practically and theoretically.Concepts of science documentary and science communication are presented in the first chapter to define the documentary about people in science and technology,clarify the relationship between such documentaries and science communication,probe into the status quo of production of the existing documentaries about people in science and technology,and also explore the significance of producing such documentaries.In Chapter 2,audio-visual expressions in documentaries about people in science and technology are primarily analyzed based on relevant cases,including visual expressions of scientific knowledge,and concrete audio expressions of the character portrait and the spirit of doing scientific research.In the third chapter,theories of narratology are adopted to analyze narrative expressions in documentaries about people in science and technology.By virtue of the case study,we aim at exploring characteristics of expressions from different narrative perspectives and in diverse narrative structures,and dramatization and stereoscopy in the event of combinational expressions.At last,the fourth chapter not only combines the existing literature with practice to put forward difficulties in producing documentaries about people in science and technology and corresponding countermeasures feasible,but also makes prospects for deepening the significance of documentaries about people in science and technology from perspectives of promoting international communication,boosting humanistic feelings,and improving the scientific literacy of the whole people,etc.In the future,we will more profoundly investigate works about people in science and technology.It is expected that this study can make certain contributions to artistic expressions of science and technology-related content,and provide some new thoughts for producing images and videos about people in science and technology.
