Mindset is defined as a hypothesis about the plasticity of personal qualities and abilities, which has been paid more attention with the development of research.Attention bias refers to the individual’s special attention processing allocation to specific stimuli,so that the individual can make timely targeted responses to some important stimuli, and individual characteristics such as happiness or sadness affect the individual’s attention bias to different stimuli.Emotional response is one of the important neural functions of human beings, and the cognitive process involves attentional bias. The research on the attention bias of individuals with different mindsets to information is helpful to improve their cognition and processing of information. At present, there are few relevant studies on the characteristics of mindsets and attention bias, and more studies on attention bias focus on frustration or discuss the attention to information of individuals with more negative thinking patterns. In the first study, questionnaire was used to explore the relationship and interaction mechanism between mindsets, emotion regulation strategies and positive and negative information attention bias. The mindset scale, emotion regulation strategy scale and information attention bias scale were distributed to 3306 college students. In the second study,a mixed experimental design of 2(type of mindset: growth mindset, fixed mindset)*2(location of detection point:consistent and inconsistent)*2(type of emotion:positive and negative)was adopted to explore the characteristics of attention bias of individuals with different mindsets to emotional information under successful, failed and general situations without success or failure.Among them, the mindset was the between-subject variable, and the detection point location and emotion information was the within-subject variable. The independent variable was the mindset, and the dependent variable was the specific index of reaction and attention bias.176 subjects were selected for group experiment. The results of the two studies show that emotion regulation strategies can regulate negative information, and the frequency of cognitive reappraisal is higher than that of expression inhibition.Growth mindset individuals pay more attention to positive information while fixed mindset individuals pay more attention to negative information. In the successful situation, the response time of individuals to negative information is longer than that of positive information.Growth mindset individuals have difficulty in paying attention to negative information, while fixed mindset individuals pay attention to positive information. In the failure situation, growth mindset has an attention bias to positive information, and in the attention orientation stage,it has an attention bias to positive information and an attention avoidance to negative information.Individuals with fixed mindset pay attention to avoid negative information; In the general situation without success or failure, individuals with different mindset showed an attention bias to positive emotions. |
