Objective Study Of Tongue Image In Breast Cancer Patients Based On The "TFDA-1" Digital Tongue And Face Diagnostic Instrumen

Objective:Focusing on tongue image features(tongue color,tongue coating color,tooth marks and tongue coating cracks)of breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and endocrine therapy,this thesis aims to summarize their tongue image patterns through analyzing the tongue image objectification parameters.Methods:The study selected 287 breast cancer patients as the subjects who visited Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine from 1 to 31 December 2022 and met the criteria for inclusion of this research.Among them were 115 patients receiving chemotherapy with 28 using anthracyclines and 87 using taxanes,141 patients receiving endocrine therapy with 77 using Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators(SERMs)and 64 using Aromatase Inhibitors(AIs)and 31 convalescent patients.Collected by TFDA-1 digital tongue diagnosis instrument,the tongue images of the subjects were processed by Matlab and then imported into the tongue diagnosis objectification measurement program developed by Professor CAI Yiheng of Beijing University of Technology,which consisted of the software to analyze tongue color,tooth marks and tongue coating cracks.The following tongue image objectification parameters were obtained:R value,G value,B value,L value,a value,b value,H value,S value,V value,tooth mark index,and crack index.The two independent sample t test and nonparametric rank sum test were used to analyze the general patterns of tongue image and the differences in tongue image characteristics of breast cancer patients in chemotherapy,endocrine therapy and undergoing chemotherapy and those in the convalescent stageTongue color characteristics:The tongue color of breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy has less red components,more cyan components,and looks darker and lighter.The tongue coating color of them is whiter,yellower,brighter and lighter.Tongue shape characteristics:The tooth marks of breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy are heavier and the cracks are lighter.1.2 Tongue objectification characteristics of breast cancer patients using different chemotherapy regimensTongue color characteristics:There is no significant difference in tongue color between the two groups.The tongue coating color of patients using anthracyclines in chemotherapy shows more yellow and darker than those using taxanes whose tongue coating color is whiter,less yellow,brighter and lighter.Tongue shape characteristics:There is no significant difference in tooth marks and cracks between the two groups.2 Tongue therapy and those in the convalescent stageTongue color characteristics:Compared with convalescent patients,the tongue color of breast cancer patients in endocrine therapy has more red and purple components,less cyan components,and is brighter and deeper.The tongue coating color is whiter,less yellow,brighter and lighter.Tongue shape characteristics:The crack degree of breast cancer patients in endocrine therapy is more severe than that of the convalescent patients,and there is no significant difference in the degree of tooth marks.2.2 Tongue objectification characteristics of breast cancer patients with different endocrine therapy drugsTongue color characteristics:The tongue color in the SERMs group has more red components and less cyan components,and it is darker and deeper than that in the AIs group.The tongue color in the AIs group is whiter and lighter than that in the SERMs group.The SERMs group has more yellow components regarding tongue coating color which is darker,while the AIs group has more white and less yellow components,and the color is brighter and lighter.Tongue shape characteristics:There is no significant difference in the degree of tooth marks between the two groups,and the degree of crack is more severe in the SERMs group than in the AIs group.Conclusions:1.The tongue color of breast cancer patients in chemotherapy is mostly light and dark and cyan blue and tooth marks are common among them.Their tongue coating is mainly in white.But it is yellower for patients using anthracyclines and whiter for those using taxanes.These features are consistent with the pathological characteristics of chemotherapy drugs aggravating Qi deficiency,blood deficiency,spleen deficiency and blood stasis and the warm pharmacological nature of anthracycline drugs and the cold nature of taxanes drugs.2.Patients treated with endocrine therapy mostly have red tongue color and white tongue coating color and tongue coating cracks,which conform to the pathological characteristics of this treatment,that is,aggravating the Yin deficiency.Patients using Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators(SERMs)have more red tongue color and more yellow tongue coating color and more of them have tongue coating cracks,which are consistent with the pathological character of this treatment that it harms the Yin of people.
