Tujia is the only ethnic group with a population of more than one million in China,which is concentrated in the mainland of the motherland instead of the frontier.It is mainly distributed in Hubei,Hunan,Guizhou,Chongqing and other provinces.Tujia people have left many classic folk songs in their industrious and simple life.These folk songs have distinctive and unified artistic features,thus forming unique Tujia folk songs.Wang Yuanping,as a composer who grew up around Tujia,made use of the creative techniques of western music he had learned,combined with the materials of Tujia folk songs to compose music,and created many vocal music works that were widely sung,which also made more people outside Tujia enjoy Tujia music."The Woman in the Mountain Shouts for the Sun" is one of Wang Yuanping’s many classic Tujia vocal music works.This song has participated in the National Young Singer Competition for three consecutive years,won the silver prize twice and is also deeply loved by the audience.In this paper,apart from analyzing the musical form structure,harmony development and creative techniques of the song,the author will also explore the artistic features of Tujia music,the use of local dialects and vocals used in the song,and finally elaborate on his singing skills when learning to sing this song and grasping the emotions of the song. |
