| Benjamin’s The Work of Art in the Age of Technological Reproducibility(hereinafter referred to as The Work of Art)is one of the most important essays in the history of Western aesthetics in the twentieth century,and there is no shortage of creative interpretations in both domestic and international scholarship.However,while creative interpretations are becoming more abundant,there is a risk that the original meaning of the writing will be diluted.This study examines the key concepts of this work,"authenticity","aura" and ’technology’,by placing them within the genealogy of Benjamin’s thought and examining the logic of their origin and growth over time.By placing them in the genealogy of Benjamin’s thought,we examine the logic of their origin and growth,and thus provide a conceptual basis for the further study of the text that is more closely aligned with Benjamin’s original intention.The concept of "authenticity" is presented in The Origins of German Tragedy as the central feature of "origins",the essence of things that gradually emerge in the course of their historical transmission,the historical unity of the material vehicle and the essential core.The Work of Art borrows this concept,but with a shift in emphasis,focusing primarily on the material dimension of authenticity,and then pointing to the transcendence of this authenticity through technical reproducibility.The concept of "aura" is not a concept in the usual sense,but a pictorial metaphor.At different times,this concept has been attached to aesthetic,empirical and perceptual issues,constituting a multidimensional metaphor.The "aura" in The Work of Art involves two dimensions:the use of the "aura" as a metaphor for the way in which the work of art exists,and the description of the perception of the object of the aura as the "auratic perception".Benjamin combines these two levels to discuss the changing ways of being of works of art in the context of the changing structure of human perception.In Benjamin’s materialist theory of art,’Technik’ no longer refers to the techniques of artistic creation,as it did in the metaphysical period,but to the ’techniques of artistic production’,which are part of the productive forces of art and have the potential to transform the relations of production.The Work of Art takes "technique" as an object of discourse and proposes a "technique dialectic " of second technique.The art of mechanical reproduction was the product of the introduction of the second technique into art,which led to a fundamental change in the concept of art,from the image to the game.On this basis,Benjamin further discusses the potential of the art of mechanical reproduction.Based on the above concept investigation,this study tries to point out the writing characteristics of the work of art,and points out that the investigation of concept evolution should become an important path of Benjamin’s concept research. |
