As a cultural trend of thought,post-colonialism is strongly political and culturally critical. It mainly focuses on the discursive relationship between the suzerain and former colonies, and the power, domination and hegemony of the West over the East.As a modern art, film has a mass and dissemination property that other art forms do not have.Film itself can be regarded as an optimal device of the ideological state apparatus,a best device that can continuously copy and reproduce ideology.best device. As a communist regime,Democratic Kampuchea itself stands on the opposite side of Western ideology, given the deep-rooted Cold War mentality of Western countries that has continued to this day,Therefore,it has also become an important object of performance for film and television works in Western countries.By systematically sorting out this batch of Cambodian-themed films shot in the West, this paper finds that both feature films and documentary films have a strong post-colonial color. From a post-colonial perspective, this paper is divided into five parts:The first part, the introduction. The content mainly includes the research background, research questions, and the purpose and significance of the research;a review of relevant research literature and the clarification of concepts and theoretical origins;research methods and ideas;the main content of the research; The second part, the introduction. This chapter mainly expounds the basic situation of Democratic Kampuchea,as well as the presentation of the East in the current Western film and television works and the current research status of the Democratic Kampuchea; The third part,Imagination of the Exotic: a drama film about the Cambodian Cambodian theme filmed in the West. This chapter starts from the Cambodian-themed drama films shot in the West, systematically analyzes and structures this group of films, and expounds the homogenization and typology tendency of this group of films in the creation process, including the specific analysis of the films in this group of films. The images of different characters created, the effect achieved by the different spatial narratives used in the film, and the identity of the theme of this batch of films, that is,the redemption of the East by the West and the trend of its theme performance with the development of the times. The fourth part,Fragments of Reality: Documentary films about the Cambodian democracy shot in the West. This chapter systematically studies the Cambodian-themed documentaries shot in the West, and attempts to examine the penetration of Western discourse in documentary images and the strong ideological tendencies of the film caused by such discourse, and elaborates from the aspects of political space and subjective discourse.,including film commentary,audio-visual language, etc. In addition,as a Cambodian director,Pan Lide’s film creation is also largely controlled by the West. Therefore,a case study was carried out on Pan Lide’s images. The fifth part,Cultural Reconstruction: The Ideological Construction of Western Postcolonialism in Video. As the conclusion chapter, this chapter takes the post-colonial and ideological tendencies in these films as the factual basis, examines the Western-centrism tendencies in these films from a broader perspective, and considers the implications of these films.Influence, including the historical reconstruction of the Holocaust discourse, the tolerance and complicity of these films by European and American film festivals, and the re-creation of Cambodia’s national image. Finally,it is the conclusion and reflection of this paper. This paper hopes to use the existing theories, through the research of this batch of Western Cambodian films,to view the logical connection and deep metaphorical meaning of these films in a relatively objective attitude. The significance of the research is specifically:First,it is conducive to our accurate understanding of the socialist regime and the international economic, political and cultural environment of socialist countries. In modern society, national image is an important cultural soft power.A good national image can not only bring a good reputation, but also create opportunities for national development. As the largest developing country in the world and one of the few remaining socialist countries,China has always been the center of attention on the world stage. As a democratic Cambodia, which is also a socialist regime, although it has fallen,in the "post-democratic Cambodia era",how the Western countries,as its ideological opposite, shape and present it in film and television works,it is very important for contemporary China to break "" It is of great reference significance to realize the breakthrough of Western discourse power through the expression system of Orientalism. The production and evolution of the meaning of Western images to the socialist regime, whether it is democratic Cambodia or China, has a similar cultural formula. The study of Cambodian images can provide a certain reference and basis for my country to formulate corresponding cultural development policies and strengthen foreign propaganda in the peaceful rise of the 21 st century.Second,it is conducive to finding the differences between the East and the West from the cultural level and self-reflection.Compared with the West, the East has a long history and culture. However, due to the difference in the development process of modern times and the different camps of ideology,in the context of Westerners, they represent modernity and civilization, while the East is barbaric. This kind of thinking is deeply rooted, and it is still reflected in various works of art to this day. Therefore,by studying the Eastern images shot by the West, through in-depth analysis of the contradictions between the Eastern and Western regions,we can explore the root causes of their inherent contradictions from the two aspects of art and culture.By analyzing and reflecting on these reasons,we can reduce conflicts.and prejudice.Re-seeing the East from a Western perspective allows us to reflect on ourselves while recognizing Western values.Third,it is conducive to promoting friendly cultural exchanges along the “Belt and Road”.As a friendly and good neighbor of my country,Cambodia has maintained close relations with my country since the establishment of diplomatic relations with China in 1958.As the core area of ??my country’s "Belt and Road",Cambodia not only has frequent economic and political exchanges between the two countries, but also has increasing cultural exchanges. As a third world country,Cambodia has little influence on the world stage, and its cultural influence is even less. Therefore,it has been occupied by the West for a long time and has become an "aphasia." Therefore,as a Cambodian people Friends, helping him to study the Cambodian-themed videos shot by the West will not only help enhance the national subjectivity of the Khmer nation, but also promote further cultural exchanges between the two countries. This article attempts to study and interpret how the “East” and the communist regime are expressed in the Cambodian-themed videos shot in the West from a post-colonial perspective, hoping to explore the history, discourse and rights behind the images. The problem. It enables us to understand the relevant culture and the laws of theoretical dissemination in these films,as well as the ways to recreate and standardize audience ideology, conduct in-depth discussions and reflections on the identification and development of the core of our country’s local culture, and further strengthen the institutional confidence of our citizens.Theoretical self-confidence,road self-confidence,and cultural self-confidence,so as to contribute a little to the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
