So far,Heidegger’s researchers still differ over whether he has ethical thoughts in his works.From the standpoint of Heidegger’s consistently “thinking of Being”,his few statements about moral life and moral values seem to declare: Ethics is impossible.However,we should be aware of the ethical dimensions of non-theory,non-normative,and non-traditional Ethics in Heidegger’s thought,rather than stopping at the superficial absence of the concept of “Ethics”.Non-Ethics isn’t anti-Ethics,thus,how is the “ethical dimension” possible? The questioning of this issue can be expanded successively into the following three questions: 1.How does researchers think of the issue? 2.What are the foundations of Heidegger’s defense? 3.Can Heidegger’s self-defense be exempt?Firstly,the impoverishment of the ethical soil in Heidegger’s works has been criticized by lots of philosophers.Some people hold the opinions that the concepts of “conscience” and“resoluteness” in Being and Time are void,Heidegger’s thought is relevant to his own life,and it inevitably led to the “Heidegger Case”.Heidegger does not,however,immediately consider writing an Ethics as people wish,he turns to the examination of “?θο?”.Heidegger clarifies his thoughts in Letter on Humanism,tracks back to the first implication of “?θο?” as “thinking of whiling” by interpreting Heraklit’s proverb,and comes to a conclusion that “thinking of the meaning or truth of Being”(the core question)is“Ethos”.Heidegger criticizes the Metaphysical Humanism and the separation of “Ethics” “Logic”“Physics” in Academy on the basis of “thinking”.Metaphysical Humanism doesn’t take care of an authentic way of Dasein’s being.In contrast,Heidegger insists on the truth view of “Ontology”.He tries to convince us that we should focus on “Being”,which is not a knowledge of entities or sciences.The question of “Being” is,Heidegger argues,the genuine philosophical question,rather than a thin,unappetizing subject as it seems to be.The “thinking” of the question of “the meaning or truth of Being” and the question of “the relation of human and Being”,which is indicated in Heidegger’s way of thinking,is already a kind of responsibility and rule.Finally,by discriminating Dasein’s “existentials” from its “average everydayness” in Being and Time,and interpreting “language is the home of Being” but we are homeless today,which is the cosmopolitan fate in Letter on Humanism,also stipulating the responsibilities of “thinking” in What is called thinking? We must understand that Heidegger,on the one hand,is advising us to accept gifts from “thinking”,to listen to the saying of “Being”,and to subject our thinking to adequate independent scrutiny without laziness and ignorance.One the other hand,we should explore own possibilities actively,and to turn into the authentic being,to be true to one’s own self and to be one’s own person.What’s more,we are supposed to return to the proper path after going astray,rather than coming to what “they” does and thinks,and “falling” away from oneself into the world,and then succumbing to tradition and to accept inherited doctrines.In conclusion,by the discussion of the above three problems,the task of this dissertation is to clarify the controversy caused by Heidegger’s ethical issues,and to explore the logical lines behind it;and to reconstruct Heidegger’s self-defense faithfully based on his own works.After that,we may estimate whether its defense can be exempted,and then make comments on both sides of the argument. |
