In the history of Chinese philosophy,the concept of“conscience”has an important academic position.Since Mencius began to mention“conscience”,and then Yang Ming and his later studies carried forward“conscience”and established its ontological status,it can be said that“conscience”has actually completed the transformation from a general moral norm to a formal basis for human inner sanctification and virtue.In this process of transformation,the internal development of“conscience”to“conscience education”has gradually become prominent,and the problem of belief transformation in Confucian epistemology has been publicized.Starting from the historical evolution of the theory of conscience,this paper points out that conscience has become the internal basis of individual sanctity and virtue after the beginnings of Confucius and the School of Si and Mencius.The interpretation of conscience made by Zhang Zai,Ercheng and Xiangshan from the perspective of cosmic ontology makes the meaning of conscience theory rich and comprehensive.After that,the foundation and formation of the doctrine of conscience are expounded with Yang Ming as the center.Since Yangming’s“Dragon Field Realization”experienced “the sage’s way and the self-sufficiency of my nature”in the emptiness,that is,conscience,he constantly honed himself to deeply recognize and practice conscience,and finally took conscience as the ontological principle for the confirmation of faith.It can be said that the entity of “reason”since the Song Dynasty was broken and then returned to Zen and faith.This is a significant change and breakthrough of the theory of“conscience”from “reason”to “teaching”,and also a sign of the formal foundation and formation of “conscience teaching”.Finally,the influence of the religion of conscience is discussed.After Yang Ming,the discussion on conscience and the inheritance,development and influence of the belief in “conscience religion”are mainly seen in the discussion of Yang Ming Later Learning represented by Wang Longxi,the contemporary Neo-Confucianism represented by Xiong Shili Mou Zongsan,and the Japanese philosopher Nishida Satoro.Following the research direction from“teaching”to “reason”,each family always takes “conscience”as the leader and “to conscience”as the fundamentalist to constantly advocate conscience.In this process,conscience emerges from enlightenment,grows endlessly,and eventually becomes the supreme object of belief of common man,gentleman,sage and even sage. |
