The Qing Dynasty is another peak of classical Chinese strange novels.Pu Songling’s Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio and Ji Yun’s Fantastic Tales By Ji Xiaolan can be regarded as the peak works of classical Chinese strange novels in the Qing Dynasty. However, the two books show different styles and have different effects on later generations.Pu Songling’s classical Chinese novels are more about the experience of miserable life and the satire and ridicule of ugly and absurd society from the perspective of the bottom society. At the same time, they also have the poetic pursuit and imagination of beautiful social ideal and beautiful life, which constitute his unique literary aesthetic style, that is,observing everything through strong "emotion",and thinking about social order, morality and ethics is also full of subjective emotion.Based on the mentality of literati,Ji Yun strictly abides by the traditional concept of classical Chinese novels.Although he writes strange stories and talks about fox,Taoism and ghosts,he tries to express "truth" in objective and rational words. He is good at analyzing the truth through the cut-off and direct narration of one person and one thing, focusing on analyzing the reason, and expounding the thinking and questioning of social order and ethics. His literary style shows the aesthetic pursuit of scholars and officials.
