The ability to identify grammatical categories is the basic ability to master a natural language,because grammatical categories(such as nouns,verbs,etc.)are the basic components of grammar.A large number of relevant studies have proved that people can recognize grammatical categories in infancy,but how children classify words into grammatical categories,the formation mechanism and determinants of this process are still unclear.While the mechanisms by which grammatical categories are acquired in children are not yet clear,we may choose to examine similar situations in adults first to gain more insight into the nature of the mechanisms in question.Relevant for adult Chinese is their mother tongue at present is how to the category of cognitive study on the grammatical category is very few,so this study focuses on the question is whether for adult Chinese is their mother tongue can be done only depend on the distribution characteristics of input language category,if can do,what is the factor which influence adult category is also the focus of our research problem.The study of how Native Chinese adults categorize grammatical categories can on the one hand increase our understanding of the language cognitive system in the brain,and on the other hand help us investigate the universality and particularity of different language acquisition mechanisms.Guided by distributional bootstrapping theory,this study designed perception experiments using artificial language.In this experiment,64 Chinese native speakers were selected as subjects,and two experimental conditions were designed: high frequency group and low frequency group.The categorization of adult Chinese native speakers’ grammatical categories was investigated through the participants’ judgment of the corpus they heard.The results of the study showed that the average correct rate of the subjects in the high frequency group and the low frequency group was significantly higher than the random level,which indicated that the subjects in both groups could complete the categorization of grammatical categories.This study found that speakers of Chinese adults have the grammatical category in the category of artificial language ability,the study found that participants can find function words and notional word appear mutual relations andrelations with the total now to master artificial language phrases and sentences in the form of rules,and the grammatical category of artificial language category.The study also found that the level of grammar rules in the language affected the acquisition of the subjects,and the subjects would subconsciously acquire the most basic and necessary grammar rules in the language first.In addition,the study found that subjects faced with a completely new language unconsciously tended to apply the rules of their native language to the language they came into contact with.This study proves that native Chinese adults can complete the categorization of grammatical categories in a short period of training,which supports the theory of distributed priming.This study is of great significance for the theory of category acquisition,and also provides a reference for children’s grammatical category acquisition.At the same time,this study has strong practical significance and can provide reference for the cultivation of language ability.
