The "sketch method" is arguably one of the most common and practical methods used by actors in the process of creating their characters. The "sketch method" plays a key role in both the rehearsal and on-camera performance of a play.It is based on the actor’s life outside of the script, using the sketch to make the actor understand the role more comfortably, and to help the actor shape the role. The first person who proposed and applied the "sketch method" was the dramatist Stanislavsky. He started to use the term "sketch" at the end of the 19 th century. However,in the early exploration process,Stanislavsky did not advocate this method, but put the "emotional memory" method in the first place. The theory of emotional memory is described in great detail in chapter 9,"Emotional Memory," of his book,"The Actor’s Self-Cultivation.This means that the actor should recall his or her own experiences and what he or she has seen and heard to drive the emotion, which helps the actor to experience the emotion of the character and to integrate the "first self" into the "second self"."Emotional memory" also became an important part of Stanislavski’s system. In his later years,Stanislavsky gradually abandoned the traditional emotional experience and shifted to the physical action method, and the "sketch method"was the "new method" advocated by Stanislavsky in his later years. The process of bringing the content of the play to the stage was the actor’s process of re-creation.The script gives lines and simple stage prompts, and the actor plays the role by expressing the playwright’s ideas and sublimating the script. The actor turns the text into visual, watchable art for the stage. This is also the main task of the actor’s second creation. The "sketch method" has become a common method in performance teaching and rehearsal today. This is the result of the artists’ continuous exploration and practice, which has proved that this method is a proven training method.Translated with www.Deep L.com/Translator(free version)...
