| Edward Hopper is an American realist painter in the 20 th century,who is famous for his "loneliness atmosphere" expression and unique "lens sense" perspective.His works influenced not only art of painting but also literary and cinematic arts.Alfred Hitchcock was born in London,England,and is known as the father of the suspense genre,His works use people’s "voyeuristic desire" to set the "sense of suspense" in the film.It provides an example for the later suspense film artistic creation.This paper focuses on hopper’s painting and Hitchcock’s pictures of the suspense films as the research object.Through literature research and comparative research,in-depth analysis is made to discuss the similarities and differences in artistic expression between them.Based on the research materials,this paper finds that there are many similarities and connections between hopper’s paintings and Hitchcock’s films.This paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter mainly compares the factors that influence the creation of Hopper and Hitchcock in the early 20 th century,elaborating the growth experience and personality formation of the two artists respectively,as well as the sources of emotions in the works of art.The second chapter mainly compares the female themes and various scene symbols in the pictures of Hopper’s paintings and Hitchcock’s pictures of the suspense films and analyzes their roles in the pictures in detail.The third chapter discusses the comparison of the emotional experience brought By the Hopper’s painting and the pictures of Hitchcock’s suspense films.The emotional expression and rendering atmosphere of the two artists are discussed in detail through the method of entering the perspective of the picture,the unique use of light and shadow in the picture and the ingenious setting of color in the picture,and there are many similarities between Hopper and Hitchcock in the way of creating pictures.The fourth chapter discusses the comparison between hopper’s painting and Hitchcock’s pictures of the suspense film and its influence on the later generations,which fully shows the similarity.Through the sorting and analysis of the above four chapters,although hopper and Hitchcock used different media in their artistic creation,Both are adept at recreating the trivialities and details of daily life,both of them,the techniques used in rendering scene atmosphere are similar.and endowing the audience with the unique emotional experience,stimulating the audience to explore,causing the audience resonance.At the same time,it has a far-reaching enlightening effect on the later artistic creation.There are something in common between the art of painting and the pictures of the film.Artists convey emotions and express moods through their own unique art forms.Only when artists broaden their horizons in creation,improve their ability to screen works of art,break the isolation of a single field of creation,and arouse the inspiration of re-creation,can the tree of human civilization flourish. |
