The Study On The Spread And Reseach Of The Palace Of Eternal Youth In The Anglo-American Academia

The spread and study of The Palace of Eternal Youth in the Anglo-American academia has a history of more than one hundred years.In the Anglo-American academia,there are five selected versions,two full versions and four adaptations,including two modes of "translation in" by native Anglo-American sinologists and "translation out" by domestic scholars.The research content involves author,theme,text structure,character image and so on,which shows the high artistic value of the text.This paper outlines the general situation of The Palace of Eternal Youth in the Anglo-American academia by combing the historical materials of its spread and research in the Anglo-American academia,and then makes an in-depth analysis of its research perspective,methods and characteristics,so as to provide some reference for the domestic study.The first chapter sorts out the spread and research situation of The Palace of Eternal Youth in the Anglo-American academia.This part mainly investigates the translation and research process of The Palace of Eternal Youth,and analyzes its related contents and characteristics.On this basis,the paper analyzes the political and cultural background of "going out" in The Palace of Eternal Youth,including the diplomatic relations in the special period and the wave of emigrants under its influence,as well as the encouragement and support of the state for cultural communication.Chapter two is the study of the theme of the The Palace of Eternal Youth.In order to analyze the theme research of the Palace of Eternal Life in the Anglo-American academia,this chapter first introduces the domestic theme research of the Palace of Eternal Life.The author selects the research results of Dr.Ailing Wang from Yale University,Dr.Lai Lin,Ho from Princeton University,and American Sinologists Mei-Hwa Kuo and Chen,Fan Pen Li,,which serves as the basis for the discussion of the theme of The Palace of Eternal Youth in the Anglo-American academia.Based on the research achievements of Aying Wang,Mei-Hwa Kuo,Lai Lin,Ho and Chen,Fan Pen Li,the author investigates the fusion and differentiation of research methods and perspectives between the domestic scholars and the Anglo-American academic scholars around the themes of emotion theory and political nationality theory.The third chapter analyzes the current situation of the study of the image of Yang Guifei in The Palace of Eternal Youth by Anglo-American sinologists.Sinologists interpret the image of Yang Guifei with typical western literary aesthetic theory and critical paradigm.Whether applying the Christian theory to the analysis of Li Longji and Yang’s love,or investigating of Yang as the role of "Soul Dan" from the perspective of stage,it is quite representative in the image research field of The Palace of Eternal Youth in the Anglo-American academic.Chapter four is a special analysis of Sinologists in the Palace of Eternal Life.This chapter selects the research results of American sinologist Judith T.Zeitlin,sinologist of Chinese descen Joseph S.C.Lam and Dr.Ming Yang from the University of Hawaii.They study The Palace of Eternal Youth in the new era from the perspective of modern music and narration and the stage production.In the cultural context of Intangible Cultural Heritage,their analysis of Kunqu Opera and the text from an outside perspective,which has certain academic value.The conclusion explains the different cultural schemata between domestic and Anglo-American scholars,and summarizes the main characteristics of the sinologists in the research process.They use the “close reading” fully advocated by the Anglo-American New Criticism,based on the unique cultural context,and reflect the construction and ultural misreading of the images of foreign lands by the vision of “the other” under the guidance of western culture after cultural filtration,presenting the Anglo-American world with the three-dimendional and full of vitality of Chinese drama.Taking the spread and reseach of The Palace of Eternal Youth as an case,it provides a reference for us to further promote the effective acceptance of classical drama by readers of outside the region.
