| General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out at the National Conference on Ideological and Political Work in Colleges and Universities in 2016 that,“it is necessary to persist in taking morality and cultivating people as the central link,and to implement ideological and political work throughout the whole process of education and teaching,so as to realize the whole process and all-round education”.After the concept of curriculum ideological and political education was put forward,most of the researches were focused on Colleges and universities,and relatively little research on Ideological and political education in middle schools.Junior middle school is an important stage for students to establish a correct outlook on life,values and world,which needs careful cultivation and guidance.With the advance of English curriculum reform and the proposal of subject core literacy,middle school teachers are increasingly aware of the importance of ideological and political education.Junior high school English,as an important course at the junior high school stage,undertakes the mission of English ideological and political education.Therefore,it is necessary to integrate ideological and political education into junior high school English teaching.This study aims to solve the following problems: 1.What is the current situation of ideological and political education in English reading teaching in junior middle schools? 2.How to integrate ideological and political education into English reading teaching in junior middle school? What is the specific method? 3.What is the effect of integrating ideological and political education into English reading teaching in junior middle school? Therefore,based on the theory of the all-round development of human beings,this study takes part of English teachers and students in a school in Qingdao as the research object,and uses research tools such as questionnaires and interviews to understand the integration status of ideological and political education in English teaching in a junior school in Qingdao.The survey found that the current situation of integration is not optimistic:(1)students themselves lack ideological and political awareness and have not established correct values.(2)Students’ enthusiasm for learning English is not high,and they are tired of learning English.(3)The ideological and political elements in textbooks have not been paid attention to.English teachers lack ideological and political awareness in teaching,and have not effectively integrated ideological and political education into English teaching.The author decided to carry out two rounds of action research for four months in class35,grade 3 of a school in Qingdao.Through qualitative and quantitative analysis of the data,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)this action research improves students’ ideological and political awareness and helps students establish a correct outlook on life,values and world.(2)This action research improves students’ enthusiasm in learning English.(3)This action research improves the curriculum ideological and political ability of English teachers in junior middle school.This research has certain practical significance for promoting the effective integration of ideological and political education and English reading teaching in junior middle school. |
