Grammar is an important part of language knowledge,and grammar teaching plays a basic role in cultivating students’ core literacy of English subjects.However,there are some problems in English grammar learning and teaching in junior high schools.English grammar teaching is improving in innovation.The three-dimensional grammar theory proposed by Diana Larsen-Freeman(2005)coincides with the concept of English teaching reform in China.In order to further explore the value of the three-dimensional grammar theory in junior high school English grammar teaching,this research designs a teaching model fitting the actual situation and verifies its practicability from the three-dimensional perspective of grammar,through investigating the current situation of English grammar learning and teaching in junior high schools and referring to relevant information.After collecting the information,this research finds that although the three-dimensional grammar theory has been studying at home and abroad,there are only a few researches in middle school.Therefore,in view of the situation,this thesis selects 38 students from Grade 7 of a school in Binzhou as the research objects,aiming to discuss the following problems:(1)What is the current situation of English grammar learning or teaching in junior high schools?(2)What are the application effects of the three-dimensional grammar theory in English grammar teaching in junior high schools?To answer the above questions,the research uses the methods of questionnaire,interview,classroom observation and testing.First,the methods of questionnaire,classroom observation and interview are used to investigate the current situation of English grammar learning and teaching,and the important and difficult grammar items in the seventh grade.Then,on the basis of the investigation,under the guidance of the three-dimensional grammar theory,adopting the three dimensional grammar classroom teaching mode,this thesis designs and implements a teaching design of the demonstrative pronouns according to the current situation of grammar learning and teaching.Finally,the application results of the three-dimensional grammar teaching design are investigated by the methods of classroom observation,questionnaire and testing to verify the application value of the three-dimensional grammar theory.There are two major findings: Firstly,there are some deficiencies in English grammar learning and teaching in junior high schools.Among them,in terms of the current learning situation,most students have unreasonable cognition and understanding of grammar,low interest and learning autonomy,and lack the ability to use grammar in practical scenarios;In terms of the teaching situation,it is difficult for certain teachers to grasp the importance degree of grammar teaching,and they provide a few grammar practice activities and opportunities for students to use grammar knowledge in practical scenarios.Secondly,the three-dimensional grammar theory can improve the current situation of English grammar learning and teaching.After the implementation of teaching design,most students can master the demonstrative pronouns,and have more comprehensive grammar cognition,higher classroom concentration and enthusiasm and the basic ability of applying the grammar knowledge in the scenarios created by the teacher.To a certain extent,the application of the three-dimensional grammar theory can improve the English grammar learning and teaching status and accelerate the development of junior high school English grammar teaching in the direction of optimization.
