| In the age of digital media,the generation and communication of information has changed dramatically.Paper books are facing challenges and transformations.Book designer Irma boom shows that physical books have a meaning and value that electronic books cannot provide.Irma boom,the youngest recipient of the Gutenberg Prize,is known as the "Queen of Books" and her books are included in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.She is known for pushing the boundaries of book design and experimentation.This paper first explores the situation of paper books in the age of digital media,where people’s reading habits are changing and their attitudes toward paper books are different.Through the examples of Irma boom’s book design works,we explore the meaning and value of books beyond text.Secondly,the evolution of the book designer’s identity and function is examined,and the emergence of the book designer’s second authorship is explored,and then Irma boom’s design works are cited to analyze how she deals with the new identity of the book designer’s second authorship.Then summarizes Irma boom’s book design characteristics and book design views.Then the design method of paper books in the age of digital media is given,and finally the complete design process of paper books is shown with the graduation design practice.From the perspective of the world-renowned book designer Irma boom,we will explore the development direction of paper books in the digital media era,and from point to point,we intend to provide book design practitioners with some new ideas about the development of book design. |
