| Andrew Wise and Alex Colville are the most representative painters of the 20 th century in the United States and Canada respectively. As their works are full of elements of surrealism and symbolism, but they are expressed in a realistic way,it is difficult to accurately define the style schools to which they belong. The styles of their works are seen in the world with slightly sentimental local feelings and strong rational order respectively.Their works have a strong sense of design, which plays a huge role in promoting the formation of their style. Therefore, the research focus of this paper is how to reflect the sense of design in their works. This paper is divided into four chapters. The first three chapters, based on the study of a large number of their works, select representative works, and analyze and study how the two painters embody the sense of design in the picture from the aspects of composition, perspective and lines. The fourth chapter specifically discusses the influence of the two painters on my graduation creation. At present, the academic circles at home and abroad have studied the painting art of Wyeth and Colville as far as I can get access to the materials, but no one has studied the common ground of the works of the two painters, that is,the design sense reflected in their works. This paper attempts to make a systematic and specific analysis of the design sense in the paintings of Wyeth and Colville on the basis of summarizing the previous research results.I hope this paper will be helpful to promote the domestic research on Wise and Colville. |
