| This paper hopes to analyze the artistic painting language of the two new artists,the American artists Kerry James Marshall and Alex Katz,to understand the history of flat language,analyze the source of flat shape,analyze the beauty of flat shape composition,and explore the creative significance of flat shape to the picture by starting from the source of Western flat modeling.From Impressionism to Cubism to Abstraction,the history of the development of modern art is the flat history of deconstructing the threedimensional spatial modeling.After the emergence of Cézanne’s painting method,the history of painting began to produce a flat composition method and a painting method,and this trend of flattening developed in two directions: from Cézanne to Cubism,this school was a flattening method of spatial reconfiguration;from Gauguin to Nabi school,to Matisse,this school was studied and explored from the decorative flat painting expression method.The flatness of painting is increasingly directed to the combination of graphics and colors,the spatial composition of design,and the spatial flatness of Cubism allow artists to gain more pictorial imagination.Flattening has become a trend of the times and the direction of research in the development of painting art in the 20 th century,and abstract expressionism has become the most important school of modern art in the 20 th century after World War II,influencing and producing a new wave of pop art in the United States,and other art in the same period is presented in the simplistic presentation of expression and emphasis on art forms.In later development,artists began to have to think about and examine the developmental significance of art forms,which brought effective references to the creation of contemporary art.Figurative painting returns to the vision of contemporary art painting in a new form.This article is divided into: 1.Overview of the background of the development of the flat language of contemporary figurative painting.2.The expression of the flat language of contemporary painting.3.Analysis of the flatness treatment of contemporary painting.4.The use of flatness in creation.A total of four chapters are devoted to the characteristics of the flat painting language and the case study of the artist’s use of the flat painting language,trying to find the law of the deception of the graphic language in the complex contemporary figurative painting and explore more possibilities for the development of contemporary figurative painting. |
