| Liu Chenweng(1232-1297)alias Huimeng,Xuxi,latters call him Mr.Xuxi,was a famous writer as well as literary critic in the early Yuan dynasty,commented Laozidaodejing,Xunzi,Zhuangzi,Dadailiji,Yuejueshu,the Similarities and Differences between Shiji and Hanshu,Shishuoxinyu,and other books,as well as Li He,Du Fu,Wang Wei,Wei Yingwu,Meng Haoran and others poetry,known as the first master of literary criticism in Chinese history,who had a great influence on later generations.Jie Xisi commented: "Xuxi’s works were writen in the decline of the time,however his comments on poems are great,he is the most prominent poetry critic in hundreds of years." Li Shihong said: "All learned people collect Liu Xuxi’s critical works."Comments on the Similarities and Differences between Shiji and Hanshu is a represent of Liu Chenweng’s prose comments.Yang Shiqi,the grand scholar in the Ming dynasty,said that his comments were "Extremely exquisite",and Yang Shen said: "All the scholars agree with his comments",which is of great research value.At present,although some achievements have been made in the study of Comments on the Similarities and Differences between Shiji and Hanshu,there are still some problems,such as less attention to the background of its writing and insufficient attention to Liu Chenweng’s inner world.On the basis of carefully reading the text of Comments on the Similarities and Differences between Shiji and Hanshu,takes the second volume Hangao(Gaozubenji and Gaodiji)as a case study,systematically analyzes the characteristics and attitude of Liu Chenweng’s comments,and objectively evaluates the value and influence of this book.This dissertation mainly includes six chapters.The first chapter introduces Liu Chenweng’s extraction,academic experience,official career and his writings,to achieve the purpose of commenting the man and the world.At the same time,detailed statistics and analysis are made on the version spread,style characteristics and main contents of Comments on the Similarities and Differences between Shiji and Hanshu,in order to pave the way for the following research.The second chapter discusses the background of the creation of Comments on the Similarities and Differences between Shiji and Hanshu from three aspects: the historical background,the academic background and the stylistic background,in order to grasp the motivation of Liu Chenweng’s commentary and the value of the commentary on the Comments on the Similarities and Differences between Shiji and Hanshu from a macro perspective.The third chapter summarizes the characteristics of Liu Chenweng’s comments from his preference for words and sentences,his attention to grammar and history,his comments on "mutual observation" and "repetition",his observation of characters from various angles,and his tendency of "curiosity".The forth chapter is about Liu Chenweng’s subjective and arbitrary attitude in this book,pointed out that Liu Chenweng about historical events,historical figures,especially concerned about the tragic characters,in lamented the fate of them also contains Liu Chenweng’s confusion,the fate of the times,as well as the reflection to the war,the resentation of alien invasion and the care for the livelihood of the people.The fifth chapter is a case study of Hangao,the second volume of this book,to analyze the bias of Liu Chenweng in his comments,and to demonstrate Liu Chenweng’s comments by adding,deleting and modifying the words and sentences in Gaozubenji.The sixth chapter mainly expounds the value and deficiency of the Comments on the Similarities and Differences between Shiji and Hanshu and points out its academic influence and historical status realistically.Comments on the Similarities and Differences between Shiji and Hanshu as the first full and detailed research work about the study of similarities and differences between Shiji and Hanshu,has a profound influence on later generations’ study of similarities and differences between Shiji and Hanshu,Shihanfangjia,Shihanyitongbuping,Shijipinglin,Hanshupinglin,Baidajiapingzhushiji in the Ming and Qing dynasties and so on,to some extent,they all inherited Comments on the Similarities and Differences between Shiji and Hanshu.Therefore,an in-depth study of Comments on the Similarities and Differences between Shiji and Hanshu is of certain significance to deeper understand Liu Chenweng and his characteristics in comments,and to further deepen the study of Shiji and Hanshu. |
