Research On Yu Hua’s Novels From The Perspective Of Literary Production

Abstract/Summary:
Yu Hua,as a representative writer in contemporary literary production,the stages of whose novel creation are very distinct.His novel creation is not prolific after the 1990 s,but every work caught huge attention in the literary world.With the advent of the commodity economy era,literary creation and literary market have become inseparable,and the production mechanism of contemporary literature has also undergone a corresponding dynamic change.And Yu Hua,whether in the period of avant-garde writing that was obsessed with form,or in the 1990 s when he returned to the folk,or in the new century when he turned to social reality writing,all had a conscious response to the literary production mechanism at that time.However,most of the existing academic achievements tend to conduct internal research such as textual interpretation of his works,which is quite incommensurate with his actual creation.We should place Yu Hua in a broader perspective of contemporary literary production,and examine how his works are produced,disseminated and accepted under the material conditions and production relations of different periods,as well as the corresponding aesthetic character and artistic characteristics generated thereby.In view of this,this article takes the development of the times as the context,and conducts an all-round investigation around Yu Hua’s literary production in the 1980 s,the 1990 s and the new century.The main body of the full text consists of the following three parts:The first chapter,through the investigation of the social and historical context of Yu Hua’s works,combining with the writer’s early life experience,further sorts out and explores the literary production of his pioneer period.Yu Hua’s perfect transformation from literary youth to avant-garde novelist is the author’s personal effort and the result of the collision between literary environment and ideology.The excessive dependence of the whole avant-garde novel on the production mechanism of the 1980 s is the fatal cause of its own dissolution.As far as Yu Hua is concerned,he has always faced many difficulties in his creation,which bring him lingering anxiety.The second chapter further analyzes and explores Yu Hua’s literary production in the 1990 s by studying the transformation of Yu Hua’s creation from the avant-garde of the form to the secular realism in connection with the change of the literary production mechanism.With the establishment of socialist market economic system,the highly developed mass media and the rise of consumer culture,Yu Hua’s choice as a professional writer and his novel creation have changed accordingly.Under the highly developed mass media,his novel’s propagation path and readers’ acceptance in the context of consumer culture are all different from the pioneer period.At this stage,Yu Hua seems to have found the way of transforming symbolic capital into economic capital.The third chapter further analyzes and studies Yu Hua’s literary production in the new century through the investigation of the characteristics of his market-oriented writing in connection with complicated relationship between literary creation and literary market.With the prevalence of consumer culture,not only writers’ creation is affected by the era of consumption,but also professional readers’ literary acceptance shows a market-oriented tendency,and commercial value has become the criterion of literary criticism to a certain extent.The market-oriented writing of Yu Hua’s works in the new century is not only concerned with the internal narrative mode of literature,but also controlled by the literary production under the operation of commercial capital in a sense.As a cultural symbol jointly constructed by mass media and publishers,the spiritual core of works has been deconstructed,and it shows distinct acceptance differences in the context of consumer culture.Yu Hua overdraws his own literary reputation in exchange for the market success of his works,which obviously in turn damage his literary reputation and status.Through a comprehensive inspection of Yu Hua’s literary production in various periods,we believe that in the era of market economy,we should adopt an open and inclusive attitude towards the role of commercial capital in the literary market.Writers should correctly understand the positive role of commercial capital and avoid falling into the trap of consumerism as much as possible.How to avoid commercial capital from going deep into writers ’ creation,how to avoid the possible negative impact of consumers ’ discourse hegemony on contemporary literary production,and how to establish an effective evaluation system that is more suitable for contemporary literary production are all issues that need to be solved urgently for contemporary literary production mechanisms.And this is by no means achieved by the individual efforts of writers.The construction of a good literary ecology requires the joint efforts of many parties,and consciously shielding the negative effects of consumerism is the key to the efforts of all aspects of literary production.
