With the advent of the global Internet era and the rapid development of national social economy,the Chinese teenagers’ ideological and moral construction are facing many new problems and challenges.The report of the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China puts forward that “cultivating people by virtue” should be regarded as the fundamental task of education,so it has become an important task for schools to penetrate moral education in subject teaching.Teachers penetrate moral education into the teaching of various disciplines in order to achieve the educational effect of moistening things silently,which is an important means to solve the poor effectiveness of school moral education.English textbooks,as the carrier of moral education content,play indispensable roles in the implementation of the fundamental task of “cultivating people by virtue” in English subjects.However,there are still some problems in junior high school English teaching.Teachers neglect moral education and lack awareness of the importance of moral guidance to junior high school students.Teachers pay too much attention to achievements,which leads to the unsatisfactory implementation of the core literacy of English.Teachers ignore the humanistic nature of English and are not good at excavating the moral education content in teaching materials and so on.This study can provide some references for the penetration of moral education in English,the educational research of teaching and the effectiveness research of moral education in schools.The research starts with the study of moral education in English.By means of text analysis,questionnaire survey and interview,this paper investigates the problems related to the moral education penetration of junior high school English teachers by using the moral education content in textbooks.These problems include three research contents: teachers’ awareness of moral education penetration,teachers’ recognition of moral education content in teaching materials and teachers’ use of moral education content to penetrate moral education.The research used SPSS21.0 and the interview method to analyze the data of the questionnaire results,and the results show that: 1.Although junior high school English teachers have high awareness of moral education penetration in English,they lack the urgency to penetrate moral education in English.2.Junior high school English teachers have not been able to fully identify the content of moral education in teaching materials.The teachers’ use and expansion of moral education content in teaching materials are not ideal and the identification of moral education content in teaching materials needs to be improved.3.Junior high school English teachers agree with the penetration of moral education in English,but there are some problems,such as empty slogans and lack of effective implementation.Most teachers think that the current teacher evaluation system is not conducive to the penetration of moral education.By analyzing the results,the research puts forward the following pertinent suggestions from the aspects of teachers themselves,schools,educational administrative departments,textbook compilation groups and parents of students: 1.Junior high school English teachers should improve their moral education awareness,strengthen their study of moral education knowledge and moral education penetration theory,be good at excavating moral education content in teaching materials,and expand the methods and ways of using moral education content.2.Schools should have clear moral education objectives for English teaching and actively organize teachers to carry out relevant training.3.Educational administrative departments should improve the evaluation system of teachers and strengthen the cultivation and investigation of teachers’ moral education ability.4.The compilers of teaching materials should improve the moral education content in teaching materials.5.Parents of students should strengthen communication with schools,establish a scientific view of becoming talents,and pay attention to their students’ moral development.Through the exploration of moral education content in teaching materials and the investigation of teaching realization,the research puts forward some strategies to promote the implementation of moral education content.Due to the limited time,there are some problems in this study,such as single research sample,a few participants,and the unverified effectiveness of the strategy.Therefore,the research will study more teaching materials in the followup research,expand the sample of participants,and use the teaching strategies proposed in this paper to practice,so as to provide reference for the teaching realization of moral education penetration in junior high school English.
