| Nowadays,with the rapid development of information technology,the application of information technology in the teaching process has become one of the important contents of curriculum reform,which means that applying information technology to teaching can better improve not only the quality of teaching,but also the efficiency of students’ learning.Micro-video scaffolding instruction combines the modern education technology micro-video with scaffolding teaching,and uses micro-videos in teaching to help create learning situations or teach English knowledge,so as to achieve effective English teaching and learning.Therefore,this study,starting from junior high school English teaching,explores the application status,effectiveness,and problems when using micro-video scaffolding instruction for English teaching in junior high school.This study selected 3 teaching classes randomly from the first,second and third Grades of Xi’an one junior high school,a total of 165 students,as questionnaire research participants.165 questionnaires were distributed to know(1)the basic situation of teachers’ use of micro-videos in junior high school English teaching,including students’ attitudes towards micro-videos,frequency,source,types,length,and subtitles language of micro-videos,and the relevance between the micro-videos and the teaching content;(2)the effects of micro-video scaffolding instruction in junior high school English teaching.Classroom observations were conducted to know the problems in the use of micro-video scaffolding instruction.The results showed that most junior high school students liked the micro-videos played by their English teachers in the classroom,especially animations,dialogues,video clips,documentaries and song MV.Teachers would download or edit those videos that were within 3 minutes with bilingual or English subtitles according to the content of the classroom teaching.Using micro-videos scaffolding instruction for English teaching in junior high school could stimulate students’ interest in learning English,improve their English language ability,autonomic learning ability and learning efficiency,and create a good classroom learning environment.However,two problems existed in the micro-video scaffolding instruction in junior high school English teaching.Some micro-videos were difficult to understand,especially difficult sentences and fast speed.Teachers did not make full use of micro-videos,including teachers’ insufficient explanation on micro-videos and teachers’ not making full use of micro-videos to raise appropriate questions to arouse students’ interest and activate classroom atmosphere. |
