An Investigation Of The Linguistic Landscape In Huaining County,anhui Province

The linguistic landscape is an emerging research hotspot in the field of sociolinguistics.This paper conducts a field survey on the linguistic landscape of Shipai Town,Huangdun Town and Xiaoshi Town in Huaining County,analyzes the formal characteristics of the linguistic landscape according to the theory of place semiotics,and deeply explores the function and construction principles of the linguistic landscape,and through investigation and analysis,it is mainly found that the linguistic diversity of the official signs in the Huaining linguistic landscape is greater than that of private signs,but the number is far less than that of private signs;the Huaining linguistic landscape is dominated by Chinese monolingual signs,and the visible range of bilingual or multilingual signs is limited,and it mostly appears in banks,Traffic and tourist attractions and other fields;in terms of code visibility and prominence,Chinese is the priority code in the region,The visibility and prominence of English is higher than that of other foreign languages,symbolizing a higher language power and language status,the English in the official signage highlights the information function,and the private signage highlights its symbolic function,with symbolism such as internationalization,popularity,and fashion.
