On The Tempo Of Ravel's Walt

This article discusses the tempo issues in Ravel’s orchestral work La valse.The topic can be divided into two categories:the integrated layout of the tempos in accordance with the tempo indications in the score,and the liberal tempo selections in several sections without definite tempo indications.In the first category,there are mainly three interrelated tempo levels,namely,original tempo,moderate tempo and animate tempo.In the second category,the article discusses the tempo selections from the perspectives of both musical structure and historical interpretations.
