Fang Shumei,a philologist and bibliophile in Yunnan in the Qing dynasty,is the author of "Records of Calligraphy and Paintings in Southern Yunnan",which is a regional history of calligraphy and painting and records more than 300 calligraphers and painters in Yunnan during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.His theoretical thoughts on painting are also reflected in the "Records of Calligraphy and Paintings in Southern Yunnan".The book consists of five parts.The first part,"Introduction",firstly introduces the origin and significance of the study of "The Record of Calligraphy and Paintings in Southern Yunnan",then sorts out the research status and innovation of "Records of Calligraphy and Paintings in Southern Yunnan",and finally explains the research ideas and methods of this paper.The second part,"Fang Shumei and "Records of Calligraphy and Paintings in Southern Yunnan",briefly describes Fang Shumei’s life,achievements,friendships and background of writing "Records of Calligraphy and Paintings in Southern Yunnan".The third part,"The Main Contents and Compilation Features of "Records of Calligraphy and Paintings in Southern Yunnan",divides the main contents of "Records of Calligraphy and Paintings in Southern Yunnan" into characters and paintings,textual research on the life of calligraphers and painters,classification of painting subjects,learning from nature,female painters,and painters staying abroad,revealing its regional characteristics from the aspect of compilation characteristics,.The fourth part,"The Documentary Value and Influence of "Records of Calligraphy and Paintings in Southern Yunnan",demonstrates its influence on the study of calligraphy and painting in Southern Yunnan by sorting out the preservation,textual research and historical value of painting and calligraphy in Southern Yunnan.The fifth part,"The Style Change and Preservation of Calligraphy and Painting in Southern Yunnan ",analyzes the reasons for the formation of calligraphy and painting styles in different periods through the study of the style change of calligraphy and painting in Southern Yunnan.Finally,the appendix organizes and marks the full text of "Records of Calligraphy and Paintings in Southern Yunnan",in order to contribute to related research.
