Vocal Suite "Four Seasons In The Motherland" Artistic Characteristics And Singing Treatment

Mr.Zheng Qiufeng is a famous contemporary military composer in China.He has composed many popular vocal works,including the representative pieces "I Love You,China" and "Ode to Chairman Mao".The vocal suite "Four Seasons in the Motherland" was composed in 1979 and sung by soprano Deng Yun.It is the only large-scale vocal suite composed by Mr.Zheng Qiufeng,and its composition is based on Western composing techniques,with national tones in the melody and national characteristics.This paper will analyze this suite in four chapters;the first chapter defines the concept of vocal suite "Four Seasons in the Motherland",exploring the definition of vocal suite,the origin of Chinese vocal suite creation,the introduction of lyricists and the background of creation.Chapter 2 discusses the artistic characteristics of the vocal suite "Four Seasons in the Motherland",focusing on the harmonic structure,lyric writing,and ethnic characteristics of the work.The third chapter discusses the vocal treatment of the vocal suite "Four Seasons in the Motherland",firstly analyzing the important and difficult points of its singing,and secondly analyzing the vocal singing techniques used in the song.Chapter 4discusses the common and individual characteristics of the vocal suite "Four Seasons in the Motherland",in which the common characteristics are divided into the commonality in the structure and layout and the commonality in the use of singing techniques.Among these four pieces,the piece "Autumn-How Beautiful is My Hometown in Pamir" is more popular and well-known,while the other three pieces are a little less popular and less heard in various performances and competitions.It is expected that through this thesis,more vocalists and vocal music lovers will understand the genre of vocal suites and appreciate the unique charm of the other three songs,so that the excellent vocal works will be better known and appreciated by more people.
