Thematic watercolor series creation is a social activity in which painters use colorful artistic language to create aesthetic works of objective things based on their experience and accumulation in daily life. The series of watercolor paintings of "Temperature of the City" is mainly composed of four aspects: the origin and feasibility of creation, the process of selecting urban themes, the embodiment of subjective colors in the series of creation, and the reflection and conclusion of creation.Firstly,we analyze and study the works of Pierre Bonnard, the Nabist oil painter, and analyze how to transform objective colors into subjective colors, and learn the master’s use of high purity colors and their influence on the author’s creation.Secondly, the characteristics of the picture language of American oil painter Anthony Cudahy are studied in depth in terms of the pictoriality of the painting and the brushstrokes used to shape the figure.Through the experimentation and exploration of several small color drafts, and then large size paintings,I have gained a new understanding and perception of the warmth and coldness of color, brightness and the handling of color blocks, using high purity colors to express the temperature brought to people in this city, and finally presenting this series of creative content to build a deeper spiritual world in addition to the picture performance.
