Entrepreneurs play an important role in promoting economic growth and stabilizing employment.Therefore,advocating entrepreneurship is of vital importance.Chapter five in the economics work Entrepreneurship and Economic Development: The People and Their Environment is selected as translation practice text.The source text focuses on the positive roles of American educational and legal environment for the development of entrepreneurs.Some proper nouns related to economy and law are included in the selected text.Furthermore,there are numerous complex sentences and passive sentences in the selected text.The translator analyzes the cases from lexical level and syntactic level.In terms of translation of words,the following methods are used,such as,conversion,diction,literal translation and annotation,and amplification.Inversion and division are used in the translation of complex sentences.English passive sentences are mainly translated into Chinese active sentences and sentences with no subjects.It is hoped that this translation practice report can provide reference for the translation of economics texts.
