Since its birth,character documentaries have no longer been "reports" of preaching and propaganda,but have focused more on humanity and emotions.Since the founding of New China,Northeast China,as the eldest son of the Republic and a heavy industry base,has assumed important responsibilities.The steady development of the steel industry cannot be separated from the supply of iron ore resources.An ordinary iron ore worker is a representative of a region,and an iron ore family is a microcosm of this era.Emotion is a state of mind that has never disappeared in human society,and the expression of emotion is also an indispensable psychological need for people.As a traditional form of artistic expression,character documentaries blend with emotional expression,with the purpose of reflecting the true situation of the entire society through observation,exploration,and understanding of people,mining out the extraordinary qualities of ordinary people,and stimulating deeper emotional identification,In order to better grasp the intrinsic value of human beings,promote more positive energy,encourage the audience to better pursue their self worth,and explore more humanistic spirit.The research of article is the character documentary "The Transporter on the Solitary Mountain",which is the graduation work.Focusing on the work content of the second generation of iron ore workers,this article explores his ordinary but extraordinary transportation work.Through depicting him and the entire iron ore family,it demonstrates the "eldest son spirit" that thousands of steel workers have contributed to the construction of the motherland over the past century,In the creative process,I use the audio-visual techniques I have learned to complete the emotional presentation,and in combination with Bi’s works,I elaborate on the emotional construction and emotional expression methods of ordinary people in character documentaries,and deeply study the application of emotional expression in character documentaries.
