The Musical Characteristics And Singing Analysis Of "Children,What Shall We Do" From The Opera "The Orphan Of Zhao"

“The Orphan of Zhao”,as a classic story in ancient China,has been favored by Chinese and foreign writers for its rich dramatic effect and profound story connotation.Modern literary and artistic creation is also fond of the classic story “The Orphan of Zhao”.This paper studies the opera “The Orphan of Zhao” created by the National Center for the Performing Arts in 2011 and its excerpt "Child,What shall We Do?".As a representative Chinese opera work,the success of “The Orphan of Zhao” is undoubtedly a great inspiration to the development of Chinese opera.By studying the story background and creation process of “The Orphan of Zhao”,this paper analyzes the musical style and artistic characteristics of the work,grasps the popular style of modern Chinese opera music creation,and analyzes the unique aesthetic characteristics of Chinese opera.Through the analysis of the music style,artistic value and singing skills of the aria "Children,What shall we do",the research basis of the music theory of this work is supplemented in the form structure,music style,lyrics connotation and other aspects,focusing on the image characteristics of the characters,grasp the ideological value of the connotation of the work.By deeply analyzing the singing skills of the singer and combining with the author’s own vocal music learning experience,this paper,to a certain extent,broadens the vision of vocal music teaching,thinks about how to sing Chinese works better as a bel canto learner,helps all vocal music learners better understand the opera “The Orphan of Zhao”,and helps more music learners to understand the art of Chinese opera.It provides reference for the creation research and singing teaching of Chinese modern national opera.
