The Orphan of Zhao,a Chinese traditional story known by almost every household in China,has been presented to Chinese audiences by many artists such as Zou Jingzhi(lyricist)and Lei Lei(composer),which shows our Chinese nation's spirit of "sacrificing life to get justice" in the form of western operas.The author makes a further detailed understanding of the Orphan of Zhao by analyzing the characters and performance of the Princess Zhuang and Mai Shu.and comprehensively and meticulously analyzed the character characteristics of the two female characters in the play and the musical characteristics of the works in order to achieve an opera,Zhuang and Mai Shu in the Orphan of Zhao understanding of characters' images are more profoundly in place.explore how to understand the art of the opera better,and characterize characters in the play better,and enhance the scientific way of self-cultivation.The paper is divided into four parts.In Chapter One,the author briefly introduces the Orphan of Zhao from the composing the synopsis of the plot and the artistic characteristics.In Chapter Two,this paper evaluates the dramatic image and the musical image of the Princess Zhuang and Mai Shu.By comparing the characters of these two female characters with those of the two women in opera and their characters in other literary works like Zuo's Commentaries,Records of the Historian,the YuanDynasty Zaju opera and the movie Sacrifice,the Chinese rightness or Yi is directly highlighted.In Chapter Three,this paper focuses on the singing part of the Princess Zhuang and Mai Shu singing and combines with own experience to grasp the skills and understand the works.In Chapter Four,the author summarizes the influence and enlightenment of the Orphan of Zhao to Chinese opera.
