Research On The Narrative Art Of Chi Zijian's Novels Since The New Centur

Since the mid-1980 s,Chi Zijian has written many excellent novels.Throughout his novels,Chi Zijian has not only expanded his creative themes,but also made breakthroughs in his narrative art,especially since the new century,Chi Zijian’s novels have steadily changed and matured in terms of narrative techniques and writing styles.Both the depth of thought and the height of art have been significantly improved.This paper takes narratology as the theoretical basis and takes Chi’s novels written since the new century as the research object,systematically analyzes the narrative art of Chi’s novels from three aspects: narrative perspective,narrative context,and narrative paradigm,and deeply studies the significance of the narrative art of Chi’s novels.By combing through Chi’s fiction since the new century,the narrative perspectives of his novels can be divided into three types: the folk perspective based on historical reconstruction,the female perspective based on subjective consciousness,and the ecological perspective based on harmony and coexistence.The choice of narrative perspective implies the author’s emotional tendencies and values,and Chi’s choice and application of different narrative perspectives reflect his view of the real world and the importance he attaches to narrative form.Narrative perspective is the basic angle of narrative,while narrative context is the deep structure of narrative.By clarifying the complex relationship between the narrator and the story in Chi Zijian’s novels,the narrative situations in his novels are divided into three types: authorial narrative situations,firstperson narrative situations,and character narrative situations.To enhance the tension of the narrative,the author chooses appropriate narrative situations according to different narrative demands,controls the narrative process in the authorial narrative situation,arouses readers’ emotional resonance in the first-person narrative situation,and highlights the characters’ sense of subjectivity in the character narrative situation.At the same time,the author also frequently shifts and transitions narrative situations to extend the narrative space.The unremitting exploration of narrative art and the continuous experimentation with narrative style have formed Chi’s unique narrative paradigm.This "paradigm" is manifested in the "roundness" and "lack" of plot structure,the creation and construction of poetic mood,and the newness and change of characterization.From the perspective of narratology,an analysis of Chi’s fiction since the new century reveals that the narrative art of his novels has both important values and certain limitations.In terms of narrative value,Chi has not only enriched the narrative content of novels,but also developed their narrative forms.In terms of narrative limitations,they are mainly manifested in the weakness of the warm narrative and the sheer strength of the redemption narrative.Overall,Chi’s exploration and practice of the art of narrative in his novels has certain shortcomings,but the flaws do not conceal the defects,and is not only important for enriching the narrative form of novels,but also an important inspiration for the creation of contemporary novels.Since the new century,the narrative art of Chi Zijian’s novels has become more sophisticated,with adjustments and breakthroughs.A multi-faceted discussion of the narrative art of Chi’s novels not only presents the artistic charm of the novels and the author’s narrative exploration in three dimensions,but also provides new ideas and methods for the creation of contemporary novels.
