Dong Zhongshu was a famous Confucianist in the Han Dynasty and a very important historical figure in the history of Chinese Confucianism.On the basis of Confucianism in the pre-Qin Dynasty,Dong Zhongshu incorporated the ideas of Yin and Yang,Mohism and Taoism,and systematically explained the theory of “induction of nature and human”.At the same time,he also formed his own unique aesthetic thought based on the theory of “induction of nature and human”.This paper attempts to explore the connotation of Dong Zhongshu’s theory of “induction of nature and human” and its specific development in the fields of character aesthetics,art theory and the concept of nature,in order to provide useful inspiration for promoting the spirit of Chinese aesthetics.The paper is divided into five chapters,consisting of six parts:The introduction mainly includes the reason for selecting the topic,the current status of the study,the significance of the study and the research method.Most of the current studies on Dong Zhongshu’s thought focus on his philosophical,political,legal,educational,and ethical thoughts,while the study of his aesthetic thought is slightly lacking.The paper takes the theory of “induction of nature and human” as the entry point,tries to decipher the specific connotation of his aesthetic thought,and discusses the value and significance of his aesthetic thought.The first chapter focuses on the construction of Dong Zhongshu’s aesthetic idea of “induction of nature and human”.Dong Zhongshu’s theory of “induction of nature and human” has its specific time background,cultural background and philosophical background.Although Dong Zhongshu’s theory of “induction of nature and human”has mystical overtones,it highlights the emotional correspondence between man and nature and has rich aesthetic implications.The second chapter focuses on the performance of Dong Zhongshu’s aesthetic thought of “induction of nature and human” in the aesthetics of characters.With the idea of “induction of nature and human” as the core,Dong Zhongshu focused on the inner beauty of virtue and the outer beauty of dress and demeanor,showing the Confucian pursuit of the ideal personality of the highest beauty and the highest goodness.The third chapter analyzes the presentation of Dong Zhongshu’s aesthetic thought of “induction of nature and human” in art theory.Dong Zhongshu explained the origin of music based on the Way of Heaven,valued the aesthetic and edifying function of music,inherited the traditional view that “poetry expressing ideals” and expressed his own views on the relationship between text and quality,and proposed the opinion that “Poetry has no definite explanation”,formed a unique art theory.The fourth chapter focuses on the embodiment of Dong Zhongshu’s aesthetic thought of “induction of nature and human” in the concept of nature.Dong Zhongshu takes the laws of heaven and earth as the premise and “neutral” as the center,presenting the beauty of the operation of heaven and earth and manifesting the beauty of the growth of all things.Moreover,within the framework of the idea of “induction of nature and human”,Dong Zhongshu regarded natural things as symbols of spiritual character and formed the concept of Bi-de under the idea of “induction of nature and human”.In addition,Dong Zhongshu’s idea of “induction of nature and human”builds a two-way interactive emotional relationship between human and nature and promotes the development of the aesthetic realm theory of “unity of nature and human”.The fifth chapter focuses on the value and significance of Dong Zhongshu’s aesthetic thought of “induction of nature and human”.Dong Zhongshu’s aesthetics of“induction of nature and human” has played an important role in the formation and development of the aesthetics of induction in later generations.In addition,from today’s perspective,Dong Zhongshu’s aesthetics of “induction of nature and human”has rich ecological aesthetic wisdom and provide certain inspiration for the development of ecological aesthetics today.
