"Oh pradiso" is the famous aria from the fourth act of the opera "L’Africana" by the 19th-century German composer Giacomo Meyerbeer. The work features a series of interesting and complex melodic lines and harmonious accompaniment that combine to create a passionate auditory rhythm in the audience. The aria is composed in a typical Italian bel canto style, featuring tight melodic diction, masterful riff modulation, and a cadence at the end,as well as complex counterpoint writing. In addition, the harmonic structure of this aria is complex and varied, starting with a simple tonic leading progression and then transitioning through a series of modulations to a dissonant climax. This climax expresses a passionate love and the emotion of longing to return to heaven. This paper will focus on "Oh Paradiso" as the main research object.Through the analysis of the opera characters and lyrics, combined with form analysis and singing practice,as well as the interpretation of the singing materials of famous singers, this paper puts forward some views on the emotional expression and vocal skills required to sing this work.It is hoped that this paper will provide some reference for the performance of this aria.
