| The aim of this study was to explore the biased use of the endocentric phrases in the "subjective expression" and "impromptu expression" components of the Chinese language competitions by Altaic students over the past decade,alongside relevant master’s theses,classroom records,and interviews from six Altaic nations.Through the collection and integration of 442 examples,a specialized corpus of endocentric phrases in biased using was created and subsequently classified and analyzed.Based on the finding,it offers several recommendations for the teaching of endocentric phrases and the preparation for teachers in the Chinese Bridge free expression component.The errors among Altaic learners can be categorized into errors in the adverbial-verb phrase and errors in the modifier-noun phrase,with the errors in the adverbial-verb phrase being more notable.Errors in the adverbial-verb phrase constitute the omission,addition,and substitution of its constituents;the omission and addition of the adverbial marker "地";the misplacement of parenthetic adverbial;the misordering of multiple adverbial phrases,as well as the misplacement in the grammatical function of adverbial-verb phrases.Errors in the modifier-noun phrase are categorized into the omission,addition,and substitution of constituents of the modifier-noun phrase;the omission and addition of the attributive marker "的";the misordering of constituents of the modifier-noun phrases,and the misplacement in the grammatical function of modifier-noun phrase.The reasons for these errors are negative native language transfer and the generalization of target language knowledge in learning strategies,simplification and avoidance in communicative strategies,anxiety in affective factors,and external factors such as weak teaching skills and a backward learning environment.Among these factors,negative native language transfer has the most significant impact on the biased use of endocentric phrases in intermediate and advanced Altaic Chinese learners.In light of these findings,teachers who teaching Chinese as the second language should focus on strengthening their comparative analysis skills and improving their level of expertise in order to guide learners in developing a correct sense of language and reducing negative intra-linguistic transfer.In addition,teachers should actively enhance their teaching strategies.When preparing for the free expression section of the Chinese Bridge competition,Chinese teachers should create opportunities to simulate the competition sections and guide students towards positive communicative strategies to aid them in overcoming their nervousness and anxiety during the dialogue. |
