Analysis Of Digital Imperialism

At the beginning of the 20th century,the birth of Lenin’s imperialist theory marked the establishment of the Marxist imperialist theory,which has epoch-making significance in the development history of Marxism.A century later,along with the development of digital information technology such as network technology,big data and Internet of Things,the development of contemporary monopoly capitalism has entered a new stage of imperialism,namely digital imperialism.From the historical point of view,digital imperialism is the product of the development of capitalism to a certain stage.With the support of digital information technology,the monopoly and hegemonic behavior of imperialism can be regenerated and strengthened.The emergence of digital imperialism not only harms and o ccupies the interests of developing countries,but also hinders the progress of human beings and social development.Therefore,through the development of this research,not only helps us to comprehensively understand the change of imperialism in the digital age,perspective of monopoly and exploitation of digital imperialism,also help to further explore how to break through the capital logic of digital information technology,from the economic,cultural,political perspectives to construct effective solutions to curb digital imperialism.Digital imperialism is the collusion and symbiosis of contemporary monopoly capitalism and digital information technology,and it is a new development stage of imperialism in the digital age.On the basis of integrating and drawing on the existing research results of domestic and foreign scholars on digital imperialism,this paper uses literature research method,historical materialism method,empirical research method and interdisciplinary research method,and strives to understand the historical background,characteristics,substance,harm and other contents of digital imperialism.First of all,the paper sorts out and summarizes the formation and main contents of Marxist imperialism theory,laying a solid and reliable theoretical foundation for scientific analysis and accurate grasp of the substantial characteristics of digital imperialism.Secondly,the paper defines the core concept of digital imperialism,expounds the difference between digital imperialism and other imperialist concepts,and systematically analyzes the background of its formation as the starting point of digital imperialism.Again,through the literature research and empirical analysis of many cases,the characteristics and essence of the digital imperialism,points out that digital imperialism is still not from the nature of marxist imperialism theory,essence for the economic level of digital hegemony,cultural level of digital colonialism,political level of western political hegemony.Finally,the paper mainly expounds the harmfulness of digital imperialism in the issue of digital globalization,and puts forward the scientific countermeasures to curb digital imperialism from the three aspects of economy,culture and politics.In Conclusion,the main contents,the development trend of digital imperialism,and the implications of this study are briefly discussed.Digital imperialism is still not separated from the nature revealed by Lenin’s imperialist theory,and is still manifested as monopolistic capitalism,parasitic or decadent capitalism,and dying capitalism.In essence,it is embodied in digital hegemonism at the economic level,digital colonialism at the cultural level,and western political hegemony at the political level.Taking digital globalization as an opportunity and digital information technology monopoly as a means,digital imperialism not only intensifies the global digital development gap,but also threatens the cultural security of democratic countries and undermines the political stability of sovereign countries.This paper proposes that to contain and eliminate the global harm caused by digital imperialism,we need to return to the economy,politics and culture itself to find countermeasures: to promote the reform of digital governance system and resist digital hegemony;to enhance the cultural soft power and resist digital colonialism;and to develop digital information technology to curb western political hegemony.
