On The Tragic Characters In Tian Er’s Novels

As an important writer in Contemporary Chinese literature,Tian Er’s novels have a position that can not be ignored,and the tragic characters in his novels deserve special attention.Exploring the tragic characters in Tian Er’s novels can improve and supplement the previous research of Tian Er in the academic circles,and is also of great significance to understand the contemporary novels since the new century.This paper mainly explains the tragic characters in Tian Er’s novels from the following aspects.First of all,Tian Er’s tragic character creation inherits the creation tradition of Chinese new literature since the May 4th movement,follows the realistic literary creation policy,and is good at shaping typical characters in a typical environment.The tragic characters in Tian Er’s novels are rich in types and cover a wide range,not only involving all ages,but also covering a variety of industries.Based on the characters’activities,he expounded the consumer society in which the characters lived in a deconstructive way,constructed a universal tragic plot and formed his own unique tragic characters.Tian Er deconstructed the tragic protagonists in contemporary literature according to the identity and gender of the characters,stripped the relevant elements from them,and constructed a variety of new tragic characters,such as urban dream chasing youth represented by Fu Qiming rural stubborn elderly represented by Du laoding,and lustful women represented by Yu Xinhui,a disabled person.Secondly,Tian Er pays attention to finding the external social factors existing in the characters’ tragedy to express the characters’ tragic fate,breaks through the shackles of the traditional concept of tragedy and goes beyond the traditional tragic thought of character determinism.He believes that the character tragedy originates from the erosion of the beautiful human nature by the consumer society,which leads to the division of the character’s body and spirit.This division is a destructive force existing in everyone’s body and has a tragic orientation.Finally,the tragic characters in Tian Er’s novels are of great significance.His tragic characters play a role in exploring the meaning of life,criticizing ideas and calling for the return of rationality.They have important practical significance for discovering themselves and understanding society.
