With the development of social economy and science and technology, the competition for resources among college students has intensified. As one of the negative emotions that affect college students’ mental health, anxiety has become an important topic in psychological research. Some studies have shown that the detection rate of anxiety symptoms among college students has increased year by year. Therefore,we need to further study the anxiety problem and its impact mechanism,so as to improve the mental health level of college students.Based on the anxiety level of college students, this study explored the relationship between perceived stress and anxiety among college students, and examined whether perceived stress can indirectly affect anxiety through the variable of perceived social support,as well as the role of coping styles in the process of influencing anxiety. In this study,564 college students’psychological conditions were investigated by questionnaire, using the Chinese Perceived Stress Scale,Self-rating Anxiety Scale,Perceived Social Support Scale and Simple Coping Style Questionnaire. The data were processed and analyzed with descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, regression analysis, mesomeric effect test, regulatory effect test, and the test of regulated mesomeric effect. The research conclusions are as follows:(1)There is a significant positive correlation between perceived stress and anxiety, and perceived stress can positively predict the anxiety level of college students.(2)Perceived social support plays a partial mediating role between perceived stress and anxiety, and the mesomeric effect accounts for 18.373%of the total effect.(3)Positive coping styles plays a simple regulatory role between perceived stress and anxiety, and both high and low levels of positive coping styles can adjust the impact of perceived stress on anxiety, the moderating effect of negative coping styles on perceived stress and anxiety is not significant.(4)In the mediating process of perceived social support impact on perceived stress and anxiety, positive coping styles regulate the first half of the mediating model.Perceived stress, anxiety, perceived social support and positive coping styles can be constructed as a regulated mediating model. From the results,it can be seen that perceived stress has a direct impact on the increase in anxiety levels of college students.Perceived social support can weaken or eliminate negative stimuli of stress, protect individual mental health levels, and coping styles can adjust the relationship between perceived stress and perceived social support, further reducing anxiety levels. Therefore, when facing pressure, college students can feel a higher level of social support and positive coping styles, which are conducive to alleviating the generation of anxiety. In addition to actively establishing a good social support system for college students, parents, teachers, schools, and society should also pay attention to the cultivation of positive coping styles for college students,in order to reduce the impact of external negative stimuli on individual mental health. |
