Comparative Study Of Male Images In Zhang Jie’s And Piao Wanxu’s Novels

China and South Korea share a common historical background and both inherit the cultural tradition of patriarchal Confucianism.In such a patriarchal society,men always oppress and dominate women as their own appendages.Along with China’s fast-paced reform and opening up,South Korean society is also changing day by day with industrialization and democratization.The patriarchal system began to weaken and women’s social status gradually increased.Against this backdrop,many outstanding female writers have emerged from both China and South Korea,opening up a new horizon for women’s literature in both countries.In the 1980 s,when China and South Korea developed rapidly in the political,economic,cultural and other fields,female literature against the male-centered society appeared on the basis of the awakening of female consciousness.At this time,Zhang Jie and Piao Wanxu,representative feminist writers of the two countries,had a similar perspective and outlook on life on female literature,based on the experience of a similar period of growth and misfortune times.They use words to reflect women’s suffering in the patriarchal society,and use complete and infectious writing to reflect the tragic situation of modern women.In their works,the men who are opposed to women are negative characters,check and balance the male images of women through patriarchy,face up to and criticize the contradictions of irrational society.Both Zhang Jie and Piao Wanxu’s works revolve around complicated women’s emotions,expressing the awakening of modern Chinese and South Korean women’s consciousness and reflecting the rise and fall of patriarchal society in two countries.On this basis,takes the 《Ark》 and the 《Standing Woman》 as the research object,and uses the parallel research method of comparative literature to compare and analyze the male images in the works,pay attention to the life of women who are still suffering in the society at that time,and understand the significance of creating male images by the two writers.This thesis is divided into five parts.Chapter1,It mainly discusses the research purpose,significance,previous research,research objects and research methods of this paper.Chapter 2,Discusses the background of Zhang Jie and Piao Wanxu’s novel creation.About their unhappy childhoods,grew up in a turbulent society,and both experienced failed marriages.Chapter 3,Compare the male images in the two works.The male image in 《Ark》 can be categorized as domestic violence male image,brazen male image,immoral male image,benevolent male image and contradictory male image,While the male image in《Standing Woman》can be categorized as paternalistic male image,incompetent male image and ruthless male image and awakening of consciousness male image.By comparing these two works,the commonality and difference of the male images are described,thus setting off women’s lives in the real society.Chapter 4,Significance of Zhang Jie and Piao Wanxu in shaping male images.By paying attention to the conflicts between men and women in the two works,discusses shortcomings of the awakening of female consciousness,the improvement of gender relations,the lack of male image shaping.It mainly focuses on the negative aspects of the patriarchal system,regrets the insufficient shaping of male images,and considers that the improvement of gender relations should be developed into an equal and harmonious relationship.In modern society,it is wise to emphasize that the male image in literary creation is not an alienated and detached image,but an image that should coexist and resonate in the society.Chapter 5,Summarize the main content and research value of this thesis,point out the shortcomings of this paper,and put forward the suggestion that the comparative study of male images of the two authors needs further improvement.
