| With the implementation of the New Curriculum Standards(2022 edition),the English teaching in our country has turned over a new leaf and the cultivation of spoken English is becoming more and more important.In traditional English class,sentence pattern drills and semi-open dialogue practice are the major ways to train oral English.In this way,students’ oral English levels improve slowly,and their communication skills are poor.In recent years,projected-based learning has been paid more and more attention to in our country and gradually applied to English teaching in middle school.Projected-based learning is a student-centered teaching method,which breaks the traditional teacher-centered oral class.Therefore,this study attempts to apply projectedbased learning to middle school English teaching and explore its impact on students’ English learning.Based on constructivism theory,pragmatism theory and multiple intelligences theory,this study takes 92 students from Class 1 and Class 20,Grade 8 in Wuhan Optical Valley Experimental Middle School in Wuhan,Hubei Province as the research objects,and make an experimental study on the application of projected-based learning model to the teaching of English speaking in middle school.This paper intends to answer two research questions:(1)Can the application of projected-based learning model in the teaching of English speaking in middle school improve student’s English learning drive?(2)Can project-based learning model improve students’ oral English scores?The author adopts a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods,adopts questionnaire survey,pre-test and post-test and other research means,and implements a four-month teaching experiment.Firstly,the author carried out projectbased learning in English speaking teaching in the experimental class,while the traditional English speaking teaching method is still carried out in control class;then,the teacher investigates and records the students’ speaking scores before and after the experiment,and monitors their changes;Finally,through the horizontal comparison between the experimental class and the control class,as well as the longitudinal comparison of students’ speaking scores before and after test,and based on the analysis of SPSS 22.0,the research conclusion is drawn.The results show that the application of project-based learning model in English speaking teaching classroom can improve students’ English speaking scores and English learning interest.Therefore,it’s of great significance to carry out projected-based learning in teaching speaking in middle school. |
