Abstract is a key component in a thesis,and a quality abstract can maximize the sharing of research findings.Current studies of abstracts,which focus mainly on the writing standards of abstracts,problems in abstracts,and the writing of English abstracts,pay scant attention to how international students write abstracts.Moreover,little research is concerned with the writing of and guidance on undergraduate international students’ abstracts.The conclusions of the language step examination are as follows: 1.The most common pattern of language steps in the abstracts of international students is the introduction-purpose-method;only a very small number of abstracts have complete steps.2.The introductory step is the most frequently used step,and its redundancy is also the most serious;the importance of the concluding step is ignored,and its absence is the most prominent.3.The most common step ordering is the introductionpurpose-method.The most prominent sorting problem is step duplication and loopback.The conclusions of the language characteristics examination are as follows:1.The typical sentence pattern usage frequency and accuracy rate of the method language step are the highest.International students express the worst conclusions,that is,they use typical sentence patterns,and there are often cases of redundant suffix content,typical sentence pattern repetition,or singleness.2.There are mainly problems such as improper wording,complex mixture,improper collocation,and improper word order in the abstracts of international students.3.The writing content of the abstract of the dissertation of chinese students in business and trade tends to be in the category of business and consumption,the research methods are mostly questionnaire surveys,and the research objectives and conclusions are close to reality and have strong practicality.According to the language step characteristics presented in the abstract of international students,it is recommended to consolidate the theoretical foundation,clarify the summary of various elements and their functions,and highlight the conclusions and viewpoints of the article.In view of its language problems,it is recommended that schools set up relevant guidance courses,focus on reading and writing exercises,and emphasize the role of typical sentence patterns.In addition,it provides sentence patterns and vocabulary reference tables for international student abstract writing,in order to provide ideas for improving the quality of international students’ graduation thesis abstract writing.
