Zhongyi Tang Carving Post is a collection of Yan Zhenqing’s manuscripts made by Liu Yuangang in the Southern Song Dynasty.Among these Yan Zhenqing’s works, there are some "peculiar" works. They are not conventional and can not be classified into five font styles, which are called " cross-genre" calligraphy by later generations. This paper studies the formation and development of Yan Zhenqing’s "cross-genre" calligraphy. This paper is divided into five parts. The first part starts from the origin of "cross-genre" calligraphy, clarifies how "cross-genre" calligraphy emerged, and defines the scope of "cross-genre" calligraphy discussed in this paper: the active creation of calligraphers after the formation of their conscious consciousness; The second part, starting from the external influence, discusses the possible factors contributing to the formation of Yan Zhenqing’s "cross-genre" calligraphy from five aspects. The third part starts from the internal factors. The author first climbs through Yan Zhenqing’s "cross-genre" calligraphy works, and then starts from the word "broken" to explore the specific expression of "broken" in Yan Zhenqing’s calligraphy works through the external influence of the second part. The last section analyzes the spiritual connotation of the book through the two core "law","emotion" and "ancient law and new ideas";The fourth part,a brief exposition of later calligraphers’ attention to "cross-genre" books; The last part is the author’s creation process and reflection.Through the study of Yan Zhenqing’s "cross-genre" calligraphy, the author hopes to realize "practice drives theory" and constantly improve his own theoretical level and calligraphy creation.
