Musical Characteristics And Performance Analysis Of Samuel Barber’s Piano Suite “Roaming Collection” Op.20

Samuel Barber is an American composer in the 20 th century and a representative of the "New Romantic" music school.His works show not only his skillful modern creative techniques,but also his attention to folk music materials.His creative ideas are flexible and free,and he often makes bold use of various musical materials,forms and structures,and creative techniques.As one of Barber’s representative works,the piano suite in "Wanderings" fully embodies Barber’s creative ideas.Firstly,the author introduces Barber’s artistic career and creation background,and analyzes the music material,rhythm,harmony,structure and other factors in detail.Finally,combining with my own experience,the author analyzes the key points of the music from the perspective of technology and musicality.The author hopes to deepen readers’ understanding of Barber’s Wanderings by combining rational text interpretation with their own perceptual experience,and give readers some enlightenment on performance.
