In recent times, the comparison of Chinese and Western cultures has become a popular field of work for Chinese and Western scholars, who have examined their own cultural identities in light of their understanding of different cultural forms in order to deepen their understanding. The art of painting, which is born in the soil of each culture, has become the focus of theorists competition for interpretation. However,in this process of interpretation,we see a tendency to simplify the two cultures or to explain the other cultural ecology with ready-made ideas from one culture. Here, the French philosopher Francois Julian offers us an alternative way of thinking. He abandons the "comparison of influence" based on factual links and“parallel comparison" based on the principle of analogy, and instead turns to a"comparison of difference" that appeals to concepts and value systems.“In this process,Francois Julian attempts to understand the particular concepts of Chinese culture in its original context, and then to organize a conceptual framework and system, and then to compare its differences with Western cultural values within this conceptual framework and system. This paper attempts to discuss the differences between the two visual vocabularies in terms of spirituality and sensuality, shape and model, and the way of access to existence, based on the traditional Chinese and western painting art perspective,in-depth analysis and exploration of Chinese and Western cultural differences.
