In the avant-garde movement of the 1980 s,Su Tong,a fledgling figure, leaped onto the stage of contemporary literature, injecting a fresh stream of blood into the contemporary literary world.Over the past thirty years,Su Tong has maintained the vitality of his creations, consciously transforming his creations, and has caused lasting attention and discussion in the academic community. In Su Tong’s creative process,"reality" has never been excluded from his literary outlook. This article divides Su Tong’s creative process into three stages: the avant-garde period, the new historical period, and the new century. It selects the "reality" in Su Tong’s creative transformation as the starting point, clarifies Su Tong’s own attitude towards "reality" from his personal interviews and self narration, and finds the position of "reality" in Su Tong’s creative transformation by analyzing the relationship between his works and reality in his literary activities in different periods. At the same time, viewing Su Tong’s view of reality in his literary creation from a more macroscopic perspective can,on the one hand, serve as a breakthrough for understanding the reality of avant-garde and new historical writers. On the other hand, some changes and particularities in Su Tong’s view of reality can also bring universal enlightenment and significance to contemporary writers.Divided from a structural perspective, this article includes a total of four chapters. The first chapter discusses Su Tong’s avant-garde outlook on reality.During the avantgarde period,Su Tong unleashed his rich creativity extremely recklessly. At this time, his "reality" had a personalized tendency.Under formal techniques,he started from his own inner world, using personal experiences and ideas to write reality. The colors and temperatures of language, complex images, and the imprints of personal reality in literature developed his avant-garde view of literary reality. The second chapter mainly discusses Su Tong’s literary realism in the new historical period, that is,taking "Wives and Concubines in Groups" as the basic boundary,to explore Su Tong’s realism in the new historical turn.During this period,Su Tong consciously walked back, his attitude towards reality fluctuated, and while dispelling the authenticity of historical reality,he also moved towards historical reality.During this period,he presented a wavering attitude towards historical reality. He covered historical reality with fictional imagination, breaking history into scattered fragments, turning historical reality into symbols, and keeping a distance from historical reality; He drew closer to reality, focused on the escaping humanity in historical reality, and achieved a multidimensional grasp of reality through the artistic technique of realistic imagery and line drawing. The third chapter mainly discusses the turn of Su Tong’s face to reality around the new century.During this period,he cast his eyes directly on the present. He intervened in reality with rich realistic themes, symbols, and metaphors, and connected myth with reality, reflecting his attitude and determination to transcend reality. The fourth chapter discusses the relationship between Su Tong’s view of reality and contemporary literature.Su Tong’s outlook on reality during the transformation greatly demonstrates the realistic attitude of avantgarde writers and new history writers, and also demonstrates the significance of his outlook on reality. In the process of continuous transformation,Su Tong’s constantly summarized and improved outlook on reality is a writer’s long-term thinking and writing about reality, which can serve as a reference for the creation and growth of contemporary writers.
