Referring to Bach and his chorale preludes,we can certainly associate them with church music and the organ. The huge sacred space, and the haunting tweedle make these Baroque music works bring the listeners a sense of solemnness, magnificence and graceful flow. With the change of The Times, the style of music is also evolving. The emergence of Classicism and Romanticism makes the subjective color of music more distinct. From the early20 th century to the 1950 s,a new "retro" music style,Neoclassicism emerged. In terms of aesthetic trend of thought,it advocated returning to the "classical",and tried to simulate the ancient music style and combine it with modern techniques.F ·B ·Busoni is one of the most representative composers of neoclassicism. He loved and admired the music style of the Baroque period, especially the music works of Bach. These adaptations do not add new elements to the original works, but hope to retain and express the interpretation and respect of Bach’s music,to the greatest extent on the piano through certain adaptations.Taking Busoni’s two piano arrangements of Bach’s preludes for organ as examples, this paper will conduct a more comprehensive analysis from the original Bach’s chorale preludes, combined with the genre of the preludes, the musical structure characteristics of the original and the arrangement, and the inspiration for the piano performance of them.Trying to explore their artistic value, this paper will focus on exploring and demonstrating the musical characteristics of Bach’s organ chorale preludes and Busoni’s prelude arrangements of piano.
