| In the 21 st century,as the national economy takes off and living standards improve,consumerism and hedonism are in full swing,manifested in the feminization of male idols in the entertainment industry.The feminization of male idols has influenced the public’s social values and aesthetics with high exposure and high traffic.The more serious phenomenon of "feminization" has been condemned by the public opinion,and therefore has attracted more and more attention from the academia.Unlike traditional male gender roles,feminine idols are feminine and feminine in appearance and temperament,breaking the traditional binary gender constructs,expanding the aesthetic horizon of the public,and contributing to the formation of a diverse and personalized aesthetic style.However,under the domination of consumerist ideology,the symbolic characteristics of feminized idols are obvious,and the symbol-centered consumption logic has caused aesthetic problems such as the homogenization of the aesthetic style of the public,the hollowness of the aesthetic content,and the aesthetic obscuration brought about by sensitization and pictorialization,as well as some social problems,such as the ostentatious consumption caused by the emotional economy of fans and the consumption of "male sex".The consumption of "male sex" has brought the illusion of the return of femininity to women,and the authority and authenticity of the communication media have also been destroyed.The emergence of this phenomenon reflects the complex social background and leaves us with more thoughts about beauty.This paper is divided into three main chapters.The introductory section composes and introduces the research related to the topic of this thesis.The first chapter introduces the social background of the feminization of male icons in the context of the emergence of the feminization of men in British society,describes the feminization of male icons in China since the 1990 s,as well as the manifestation groups and main characteristics;and briefly compares and analyzes the historical tradition of the feminization of men in China and the West.Chapter 2 analyzes the symbolic consumption of this phenomenon in the context of consumer society,including the operation mechanism of physical symbolic consumption and emotional symbolic consumption.Under the control of consumer discourse,the bodies of feminized idols are feminized and feminized in the "gaze" and regulation of consumers,forming the phenomenon of feminization of male idols.In order to promote public consumption of feminized idols’ bodies,modern consumer relations have created a set of suggestive meaning chains and compartmentalized symbols,and feminized idols’ bodies are used as symbolic,aestheticized,and mediated images for public consumption;feminized idols’ emotions are also symbolized in the "entertainment industry," and feminized idols’ established The differentiated emotional symbols established by feminized idols promote fans’ self-identity,which in turn leads to fans’ emotional economy and emotional consumption.This chapter reveals the social reality that feminized idols are objectified and alienated in the process of symbolic consumption,as feminized idols become a field and a tool for realizing consumer discourse under the manipulation of consumer discourse.Chapter3 outlines the aesthetic and social problems resulting from the symbolic consumption of the phenomenon of feminized male idols,as described earlier.It is confirmed that this phenomenon is a subcultural phenomenon that has been nurtured in China’s economic and social development,and that it belongs to the carnival consumption after the release of desires,reflecting the social background of "Bie-modern",a mixture of modern,pre-modern and post-modern.As a purely spiritual aesthetic form of individual experience,the theory of "inner aesthetics" helps us to improve our cultivation and realm of life,correct the annoying and exhausting sensory and formal aesthetics of aesthetic consumption,correct the alienation of consumer culture from people and commodities,and enrich the spiritual and rational worlds of people. |
