For the color language of painting, color rhythm is the concrete presentation of its vitality and painterliness."Color rhythm" comes from the alternate appearance of opposing color elements. These elements include hue, warmth, purity, brightness, color gamut area, color block shape, color overlay, color juxtaposition, etc.Bonnard’s artistic achievements in color come from his deep and systematic exploration of Western traditional painting,Impressionist painting,post-Impressionist painting and Oriental painting.Bonnard has made it clear that he studies paintings by Delacroix,Corot,Cezanne and Renoir.Based on Bonnard’s works of art and the artists associated with them, this paper focuses on the color rhythm in post-Impressionism and ukiyo-e,and elaborates the development and creative application of the color rhythm language in Bonnard’s paintings through the juxtaposition and analysis of Bonnard’s works and their works.Bonnard absorbs the symbolic and decorative color concepts and language techniques, and organizes rich color rhythm in the picture to express his personal spirit and artistic concept.Through his lifetime of creative exploration,Bonnard deeply explored the expressive force of color rhythm,so he won the reputation of "color magician" in the history of art.
